Full Description

A unroofed building is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Sutherland 1878, sheet xv). The building is shown as roofed on the current edition OS 1:10,560 map (1961).

A rapid coastal zone assessment survey was conducted by GUARD in the Autumn of 1997 commissioned by Historic Scotland from the Viking and Early Settlement Archaeological Research Project based at the University of Glasgow.

An unroofed building is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Sutherland 1878, sheet xv). The building is shown as roofed on the current edition OS 1:10,560 map (1961). The house stands on a small promontory above a small bay. It is now roofed' and in use by a nearby fish-farm. It was built in the early 20th century by the father of the present occupant of Kempie. <1>
