Full Description

On a ridge in open moorland, is a hut circle. It measures 5.5m in diameter within a turf-covered wall spread to 2m and 0.4m high; the entrance is in the S. There are no signs of associated land-use.
Surveyed at 1:10,000. Visited by OS (J M) 22 March 1983.

An archaeological desk-based assessment and walk-over survey were carried out by C Dagg of the area of proposed forestry at Lower Rumster, Forse, Caithness in 2001. As a greater part of the proposed planting area was deep peat and bog it was proposed that planting would only cover areas without too deep a cover of peat or bog and the archaeological survey concentrated on those areas. The hut circle was found to be exactly as described previously. <1>
