Full Description

A crofting township comprising sixteen roofed and three unroofed buildings is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire 1880, sheet cix). Eighteen roofed and five unroofed buildings are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1971).
Information from RCAHMS (AKK) 25 April 1996.

NG 7144 4055 Three buildings are marked on the 1st edition OS map at this location, of which only the southernmost one was still roofed in 1875. The two unroofed buildings are now not visible on the ground. The pipeline passes between the site of these two and the third, now ruinous.
NG 7157 4049 Buildings, head dyke and clearance cairns. These features lie outwith the present head dyke of the township, and probably predate the reorganisation of the township into crofts. The head dyke is of low turf and rubble construction, and the clearance cairns lie between this and the present head dyke. One building is marked outside the head dyke on the 1st edition OS map, but there are more. One building not marked on the map has been badly damaged by construction of an inspection tank connected to the pipeline running into the township from the present storage reservoir. (Photo no. 6) Another, roughly constructed rubble structure is to the south of this.
NG 7159 4029 Building and enclosure. This building is marked as roofed on the 1st edition OS map and had a small enclosure attached to the SW. It is now visible on the ground as low grass covered footings. It lies very close to the present pipeline and is likely to have been already damaged. <1>
