Full Description
A walkover survey in advance of a proposed afforestation scheme at Glen Spean was carried out by the Centre for Archaeology in 1998. Two waymarking cairns were recorded c. 30 m apart on a knoll on the east side of the track leading south-east from Bohenie. Both measured c. 2 m across and stood 0.5 m and 0.8m high respectively. The cairns had rough external faces, demonstrating that some care had been put into their creation. The cairns are recorded on OS first and second map editions as "resting cairns". The cairns do not appear to have resulted from any attempts at land improvement. <1>
