A walkover survey was undertaken by the Centre for Field Archaeology in 1998 in response to afforestation proposals for two parcels of land within Glen Spean estate, Glen Roy. The survey was commissioned by Scottish Woodlands Ltd. Parcel 1, located to the northeast of Bohenie extended over 210 hectares. Parcel 2 lay between Bohenie and Glenspean Lodge Hotel and extended over 158 hectares. The desk-based and field surveys identified a total of 23 archaeological sites and monuments withion the proposed planting areas, which included principally the remains of medieval or later settlement structures, field boundaries and rig cultivation.
