A farmstead, comprising three buildings, a subrectangular enclosure and two banks, situated around the modern dwelling of Lynebreck, was recorded during a pre-afforestation survey at Lynebreck.
Two of the buildings, one of the banks and the enclosure lie in open ground to the N of the present dwelling. The N building measures 16m from E to W by 3m and is defined by a sunken interior and low turf-clad stony banks up to 1.8m wide and 0.2m high. The S building measures 8m from E to W by 3m with a sunken interior defined by low turf-clad stony banks up to 1.8m in width and 0.2m in height. Neither of these buildings is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1874, sheet xlvi). A sub-rectangular enclosure, measuring 8m by 4m defined by low turf-clad stony banks up to 2m in width and 0.2m in height, lies between the buildings, whilst to the W there is a stretch of field bank, spread up to 3m in width and up to 0.4m in height. The bank is probably part of the boundary of the cultivated ground depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map.
The third building, which is depicted as the easternmost of three roofed buildings on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map, has been demolished recently. It measures 12m from N to S by 4m and stands to 0.7m in height in the NE corner but has otherwise been almost completely removed. A cobbled stone floor is still visible. The other two buildings, depicted as roofed on the 1st edition map, are still in use. To the SE of the building, there is a bank spread to 2.5m in width and standing up to 0.9m in height. It can be traced for over 250m to the SE. The bank generally follows the slope, only to turn downhill towards its end.
