Full Description
A hut circle and field bank were noted at NG5699 3610 in ACFA's 2004 publication of surveyed cairns on Raasay. They were situated on a gentle south facing grassy slope to the west of a small stream 25m north of the Inverarish to Fearns road. The remains lay in a sheltered valley among a series of turf and stone banks marking out an old field system. The hut circle had an internal diameter of 8m with the walls spreading to a thickness of over 1m and a height of 0.45m. The northeast to southeast quardrant of the wall had been eroded away on the exterior by the encroaching stream. There may have been an entrance to the south. The interior was grassed and showed no signs of internal structures. A turf and stone field bank passes to the west and north of the hut circle at only a few metres distance (See MHG39748). <1>
The hut circle is visible on aerial photography captured 2010. <2>
