Full Description
A kaleyard with an attached revetted platform or small enclosure was recorded during a field survey of a proposed house site. The walls are 1 metre thick consisting of earth banks with an outer stone facing. A shallow drainage ditch runs around the west, north and east sides of the kaleyard. An evaluation trench was placed across the north-west wall of the kaleyard (Trench Hin.02). The results indicate that bank, and therefore the kaleyard, were constructed after 1860. <1>
The RCAHMS First Edition Survey Project records the attached "platform" as a roofed building. <2>
