Full Description
A walkover survey in October 2007 identified a number of substantial field clearance piles on both sides of the central wet area in this croft holding. These have been revetted to allow for greater height and are impressive, particularly a circular pile on the high point at NG 8525 9129 (Fig 14). This is an unusual location for field clearance, and it may have been built over an earlier cairn or other structure. The crofthouse on this holding post dates the 1904 2nd edition map and was probably built by the crofter to the west. It is likely that he also tidied the field clearance stones into the revetted piles and banks. <1>
