Full Description

ND90SE 8008 unlocated
Alloa, 24th Mar. The master of the MAAGEN, arrived here from Aalborg, reports having passed two vessels bottom up, one on the 19th Mar., off the Naze of Norway, and the other on the 21st, off the North-east coast of Scotland: they appeared to be large vessels.
Source: LL, No. 17,144, London, Saturday, March 27 1869.
NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 11628).
The map sheet and quasi-administrative area assigned to this record are arbitrary, and it remains uncertain whether, where and when the vessel that was noted 'off the North-east coast of Scotland' subsequently stranded or foundered. The vessel reported 'off the Naze of Norway' is assumed to have been lost outwith Scottish waters.
The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998).
