Sherds from a lugged bowl were discovered in spoil from a machine-dug hole in Galmisdale Bay during October 2002. The spoil was removed from a 3m deep hole dug into sand during construction work undertaken by pier contractors. Preliminary identification by the National Museum of Scotland suggests the bowl may be of Iron Age date.
