Full Description
Suboval cairn of small and medium stones (10-20cm long) spread across E-W axis; situated at 80m OD on S-facing slope on narrow river terrace; partially heather- and moss-covered, it lies directly next to present Forestry track and shows disturbance on E side closest to track. Although the site would normally be assumed to be clearance material, there is no visible evidence for cultivation and clearance on the land, which has been forested. However, the traces of this could have been wiped away by forestation work, and the site, which lies on a narrow terrace above River Black Water, could be reflective of earlier occupation and land use. <1> <2>
