Full Description

A shieling group consisting of 3 hut stances built on small knolls was recorded by NOSAS in 2007 as part of the Scotland's Rural Past Project. Centred on NH 2254 5208 and situated on the steeper South facing slope above the outwash of the Allt a'Choire Dhuibh, the area is well drained, grassy but with vigorous bracken growth in season.

A grass grown oval shieling mound (Nosas Site Survey No697a) at NH 22523 52083. It is comprised entirely of turf, has a slightly dished centre measuring c2.5m x 2 internally with an E-W axis.

A grass grown shieling mound (Nosas Site Survey No697b) at NH 22546 52072. Low turf and stone walls define a slightly dished interior measuring 3m x 2m on an E-W axis. Close to a small burn it is the lower structure of the group.

A grass grown, circular shieling mound (Nosas Site Survey No697c) at NH 22553 52101. Comprised entirely of turf it has a slightly dished centre with an internal diameter of 2m. It is located between 2 small burns and is the uppermost structure within the group. <1>
