Full Description
The site of a possible shieling hut at Dhoire Bheithe, Lochcarron, was noted during a walkover survey of the Coulin Estate by Highland Archaeology Services prior to a proposed tree planting scheme on the estate in 2011. It occupyed the edge of a slightly raised terrace on the east bank of the Allt Dhoire Bheithe and was a low, grassy, oval, hollow mound which may have been the turf footings of a small shieling-type hut. No stones were visible in the structure. While this is unusual in this area, such huts are common elsewhere in the Highlands <1>
