Description
A desk-based assessment and walk-over survey was carried out in January 2011 by Highland Archaeology Services ahead of a tree-planting scheme at Coulin, Lochcarron, Wester Ross. Five proposed planting areas were surveyed. Of the eleven sites noted within or adjacent to the areas, the majority were typical of a 19th-20th century sporting estate. One was modern, and one may date to the short period of sheep farming during the mid-19th century. The rest are features of land use which pre-date the sheep and deer forest. <1>
