Full Description
A possible farmstead of turf or stone foundations partly noted in a walkover survey in 2011 prior to a proposed woodland planting scheme.
A very degraded turf or stone bothy or shieling hut was noted in a walkover survey by West Coast Archaeology Services in 2011, prior to a proposed woodland planting scheme. The bothy or shieling hut measured 6m long E-W by 4m wide over walls that spread to 0.7m wide and survived up to 0.4m high. There was a possible entrance in the north east end and a low turf bank runs off the east corner for 5m. <1>
There appear to be at least 3 small buildings in this location, though one may be a small circular enclosure or perhaps a kailyard, visible on vertical aerial photographs taken in 2023, of which the bothy noted in <1> would be the central of the three. <2>
These buildings (and those recorded under MHG55925), would appear to represent the southern end of the former township of Sherrabeg shown at this location (mainly to the north) on Roy's Military Maps (see MHG for the township record). <3>
