Full Description
Shielings noted during a DBA by J Wood in 1995 in advance of a woodland creation scheme. Just south of Rynuie, shielings from the 18th or 19th century were noted according to the 1858 Seafield map. <1>
Shielings noted during a DBA and walkover survey by C Dagg in 2007 in advance of a woodland creation scheme. This site was within the large semi-circle of enclosed and improved ground south of the Rynuie township. It is unlikely that shielings here would have been contemporary with the township as they were too close, but they could have pre-dated the establishment of a permanent settlement. The prefix ‘Ry’ in 'Rynuie' suggests a shieling site. <2>
