EHG3757 - DBA and Walkover survey - Abernethy, Abernethy and Kincardine

Technique(s)

Organisation

Catherine Dagg

Date

2007

Description

A DBA and walkover survey was conducted by Catherine Dagg in 2007 in advance of a woodland creation scheme proposed to the south of the former Abernethy Forest boundaries into area managed by the RSPB. This evaluation assessed the potential impact of planting on the archaeological and cultural resource of the Forest and offered mitigation measures to reduce these impacts. The main impact on the archaeological record would have been the direct planting on trees on archaeological sites. The evaluation also, however, took the opportunity to highlight other management issues in connection with the archaeological resource of the forest. <1>
