A hut circle at Laide Wood, to the southwest of Laide.

189130 890654 Laide Wood 1 JMC001: The hut circle was visited by A MacInnes, J Macintyre and others in 2012 as part of research on hut circles in Wester Ross for A Welti. The HC is oval in shape and is sited on a gentle grassy slope. It has survived well in a cultivated area. Views are panoramic to both land and sea. The interior is bowl shaped and features are clearly visible. Interior diameters are 7m and 4m, exterior diameters are 11.1m and 7.7m. Double skinned wall thickness is 1.4m, max height is 0.4m. The wall has good facing stones filled in with small stones. The SE facing entrance is 1.4m wide externally, 1.3m internally and the entrance passage is 1.8m, with extended entrance terminals. This HC may be associated with JMC002 (300m distant - see MHG58070), JMC003 (220m distant - see MHG58071), JMC004, (200m distant - see MHG58072) JMC005 (300m distant - see MHG58073), JMC006 (400m distant - see MHG58074). <1> <2>
