A country house originating c.1720 with later additions, built close to the former site of Torr Iain Ghairbh castle.

The building was listed in 1971.

A comprehensive photographic record was made of this building during refurbishment and repair works in 2008. The report summarises the history of the house and is accompanied by five appendices containing a large collection of photographs. <1> <2> <3> <4> <5> <6> <7>

The house suffered a major fire, which destroyed most of the building, on the night of Saturday 17/Sunday 18 January 2009, a few days before it was due to be handed over to the community.

A photographic survey of the fire damage was carried out in 2009 by Highlands and Islands Enterprise in relation to planning application 09/00043/LBCSL (Downtaking to make safe fire damage). <8>
