Full Description

An occupation layer of burnt ash or silt was noted eroding from the coast edge in Sandside Bay to the west of Dounreay.

The layer was noted during a walkover survey by ORCA in 2015 in advance of a proposed offshore wind farm development. It was located 0.5m below ground level beneath horizontally laid loose stone. The burnt deposit was noted for a length of c.3m and had a depth of c.10-15cm <1>
