Full Description
A rapid archaeological survey of a proposed Woodland Grant Scheme was conducted by C Dagg at Stittenham Farm, Ardross, Easter Ross in 1999.
Site 8: Boundary of enclosure. What appears to have been a ditch and dyke can be followed for roughly 300m, taking a meandering course roughly NNW until it becomes impossible to trace in the rushy bog. It appears to have been robbed of its stones, possibly to build the higher dyke (site 6.) Several large stones lying together at the edge of the stand of Scots Pines within the drove stance or piled at the bases of some trees could have been rolled down from this dyke during its demolition. At the northernmost traceable stretch of the dyke, several large stones are lying in the ditch in a row.<1>
