Full Description
Site of the former walled garden of the former Millton, Inverness, is shown on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey mapping adjacent to the River Ness just to the northeast of the site of the former house labelled 'Millton' (see MHG65735). It is shown as a square, presumably walled area with internal pathways bordered by trees in the usual fashion. By the time of the 2nd edition OS map it had apparently been completely removed, as had the house. <1> <2>
Note: Given the proximity of 'Nesscastle Mill' (see MHG54043) to the north, later developed into and labelled 'Ness Castle Home Farm', and the name of the house 'Millton' also in relation to the mill, might this originally have been the walled garden of Ness Castle? [IS-L 16/04/2026]
