Full Description

A rapid coastal zone assessment survey was conducted by GUARD in the Autumn of 1997 commissioned by Historic Scotland from the Viking and Early Settlement Archaeological Research Project based at the University of Glasgow.

Meandering linear feature up to 0.6 m high and with a spread of 2-3 m which runs for several hundred metres across a peat bog headland. This may represent an attempt to reclaim this parcel of land - if it is indeed a man-made structure. It is also possible that this is a natural feature. <1>

NGR adjusted based on 2009 vertical aerial photographs. <2>

Note; NGR incorrect in report. (TB 17/4/26)
