Full Description

A rapid coastal zone assessment survey was conducted by GUARD in the Autumn of 1997 commissioned by Historic Scotland from the Viking and Early Settlement Archaeological Research Project based at the University of Glasgow.

A 0.4 m high iron pole concreted to a rock outcrop in the intertidal zone and which is currently still in use for anchoring small boats in the bay. The pole is heavily corroded and the concrete is being eroded by the water. <1>
