Full Description

A rapid coastal zone assessment survey was conducted by GUARD in the Autumn of 1997 commissioned by Historic Scotland from the Viking and Early Settlement Archaeological Research Project based at the University of Glasgow.

On top of low cliffs at the coast-edge is a 21 m long stretch of irregular shaped boulders which run parallel with the coast for 17 m before turning and running towards the coast for the last 4 m at the S end. This feature is below the turf line and only visible in this stretch due to a large burrow erosion scar which has exposed and destabilised the feature. <1>

NGR adjusted based on 2009 vertical aerial photographs. <2>
