Full Description
A rapid coastal zone assessment survey was conducted by GUARD in the Autumn of 1997 commissioned by Historic Scotland from the Viking and Early Settlement Archaeological Research Project based at the University of Glasgow.
At the edge of a section of grassed cliff there are a number of rounded stones eroding from an area of sand blow out. Although many of the stones remain in situ in the turf, others have rolled down the slope towards the beach. This presumably represents stone clearance (related to site No 3 above), and it is spread over an area 7 m out from the cliff and is 4 m wide, surviving to a height of 1.5 m. The site is badly eroded by wind and wave action. <1>
