Full Description

A rapid coastal zone assessment survey was conducted by GUARD in the Autumn of 1997 commissioned by Historic Scotland from the Viking and Early Settlement Archaeological Research Project based at the University of Glasgow.

On a grassed slope between a modern house and a rocky outcrop at the beach is a clearance-heap measuring 2 m by 3 m. This stone clearance has had a quantity of concrete added and there are further dumps of modern material nearby at the head of a narrow rocky inlet. <1>

Note; on the 2023 AP, the clearance heap appears to have been removed. (TB 25/5/26)
