Full Description
A rapid coastal zone assessment survey was conducted by GUARD in the Autumn of 1997 commissioned by Historic Scotland from the Viking and Early Settlement Archaeological Research Project based at the University of Glasgow.
On the stony slope behind the shingle bar at the back of the beach, nine "L-shaped" lengths of cast iron were found, measuring c 4.5 m in length. They are badly rusted and are similar to railway lines. A further one was found a few metres away to the SE. The iron has become badly corroded. <1>
