Full Description

A rapid coastal zone assessment survey was conducted by GUARD in the Autumn of 1997 commissioned by Historic Scotland from the Viking and Early Settlement Archaeological Research Project based at the University of Glasgow.

On the north side of a grassy promontory projecting into the Loch is a turf-and-stone dyke, running W-E, cut by vehicle tracks leading onto the beach. Approximately 40 m survives, up to 0.6 m high, 0.5 - 1.5 m wide. It uses large boulders at various points. The dyke is very weathered, but there is little immediate danger of coastal erosion. <1>
