Full Description

A rapid coastal zone assessment survey was conducted by GUARD in the Autumn of 1997 commissioned by Historic Scotland from the Viking and Early Settlement Archaeological Research Project based at the University of Glasgow.

Between two ribs of bedrock, abutting the shingle beach on the south side, the sea to the north side, is a sea-wall. The wall is made up of concrete, and is built to retain and protect the shingle beach. The wall measures 10 m long E-W and is 0.5 m wide. The sea-wall is cracked and crumbling in places on the sea-ward side. <1>
