Full Description

A rapid coastal zone assessment survey was conducted by GUARD in the Autumn of 1997 commissioned by Historic Scotland from the Viking and Early Settlement Archaeological Research Project based at the University of Glasgow.

Visible for 3 m in the eroded stretch of a steep grassy slope at the back of a shingle-beach is a stretch of dry-stone walling standing 0.75 m or c 6 courses high. This walling possibly turns a corner half-way along, to run NW into the slope and is visible along the beach intermittently for c 150 m. The site is being exposed by the erosion of the slope. <1>
