Full Description

A rapid coastal zone assessment survey was conducted by GUARD in the Autumn of 1997 commissioned by Historic Scotland from the Viking and Early Settlement Archaeological Research Project based at the University of Glasgow.

This is a section of old, now grass and bracken-covered, road which follows the coast north from the bend in the modern road south of Achuvoldrach. The modern road runs west to a bridge over the Achuvoldrach Burn where this road continues north straight to the south bank of the burn before turning west and running through a gate into a field and disappearing. This road is revetted at the seaward side all the way from the bend in the modern road to the burn. This revetment is mostly ruinous and overgrown.<1>
