Full Description
A rapid coastal zone assessment survey was conducted by GUARD in the Autumn of 1997 commissioned by Historic Scotland from the Viking and Early Settlement Archaeological Research Project based at the University of Glasgow.
Running across the alluvial deposits and on to the mud below the HWM at the SW end of the Kyle is a post and wire fence. At the edge of this modern feature is a dump of stones which appear to have been placed in an attempt to shore up this stretch of the coast. <1>
