NG87SE 2 89 73.
Eilean Ruaraidh Mor is named after a chieftain who had a stronghold there. There are said still to be traces of foundations and gardens. (It seems likely that Eilean Ruaraidh Mor is here being confused with Eilean Ruardaidh Beag, on which are the remains of the residence of John Roy Mackenzie, also described as 'remains of house and garden'. (See NG87SE 4).

No trace of any buildings or walls was seen on Eilean Ruairidh Mor. Visited by OS (E G C) 3 October 1964.
