A hut circle at An Carnach.

The site was recorded by M Wildgoose during a survey of Auchtertyre in 1989. NG82NW 18 8440 2978 At the foot of the SE-facing flank of An Carnach, by a prominent rock outcrop, at a height of 270m OD are the well preserved remains of a circular hut. It measures 8m in diameter over walls 2m wide, the walls standing to a height of 0.8m in places. A door opening faces to the east. <1>

18443 82982 An Carnach MW003: The hut circle was searched for by A Welti and M Wildgoose in 2009 as part of research for a dissertation on hut circles in Wester Ross. This was part of a degree course overseen by Aberdeen University. This circular HC was noted as well preserved in the 1989 survey but could not be relocated in 2009 due to very deep heather. <2> <3>
