EHG2 - Walkover survey - Little Assynt
Technique(s)
Organisation
Catherine Dagg
Date
Feb 2000
Description
A walkover survey was carried out by C Dagg for a proposed second phase of planting at Little Assynt (see EHG15 for the first phase). The object of the survey was to identify features of archaeological interest and where necessary to recommend mitigating actions to minimise damage. Experience gained during the original Little Assynt survey was used to predict the probable location and nature of the archaeological remains, so the survey concentrated on the lower lying ground and along the water courses. A number of archaeological features were recorded relating to pre- and post-Clearance settlement and cultivation. <1>
Note that the report contains a number of sites which have not yet been entered in the HER. <2>
