Full Description
The site of a house, now demolished, which is depicted on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map c.1876. The house was historically called Falcon Cottage and was renamed Claremont at some time before 1966. <1>
Before being demolished the house had been empty for several years and was in a very poor state of repair. The building was a detached stone-built three bedroomed villa with a southerly aspect. The front and gable walls were rendered and the roof was of slate. There was a single storey front porch, a two storey rear extension and a dilapidated wooden lean-to on the east gable end. Photographs of the building taken in October 2008 show the extent of deterioriation since the architect's photographic survey in 2007. <2><3>
Photographs of the building taken in July 2008, including the upstairs rooms, have been submitted to the HER. <4>
