Full Description

Ruin of a stone-built long house at Glen Ose, Skye. It was recorded during a walkover survey by Archaeological and Ancient Landscape Survey in 2001 in advance of the proposed Edinbane Wind Farm development. It may be part of the Glen Ose township (see MHG5070), though for the purposes of recording it has been assigned to the farmstead/township record of MHG63392.

Site D: A stone built long-house lying on a north-east to south-west alignment. The ruins measure 16m long by 6.5m wide over well made walls 1-1.5m thick. This structure has a rounded northeastern end and square corners at the southwestern end. There appear to be opposing door openings 5m from the south end. There are no visible partitions or hearth places. Attached to the centre of the southeast wall is a stone built annex which measures 6m long by 4m wide. The walls of the annex are 0.8m thick. Access is through the south-east wall of the main building. Immediately across the road (outside survey area) is a second stone built house (see MHG63398). <1> <2>
