Date

Description

A desk-based assessment and rapid walk-over survey of the area of a proposed forestry scheme on the Shurrery Estate, Caithness was carried out by C Dagg in 2004. The object of the survey was to identify on the ground all previously recorded archaeological features, locate any associated minor features and other unrecorded sites, and to predict the likelihood of further archaeological sites or deposits being concealed under peat. A number of new archaeological sites were recorded during the survey including several huts circles and site relating to post-medieval occupation and agricultural practice. <1>
